"...I never had been so truly free in my life."

From The Autobiography of Malcolm X

This statement from The Autobiography of Malcolm X expresses what reading meant to him while he was incarcerated in Norfolk Prison.

This version of our logo will be used to identify and highlight our materials, programs, and services relating to the incarcerated – especially those preparing for Reentry. Its message, exemplified by the above quote by Malcolm X, is that freedom – for someone incarcerated – begins by freeing the mind through reading.

This rendition of our logo was created by Frank Nicholas, founder of Nicholas Art Direction and former Artistic Director of Leo Burnett Company, Chicago.
