Eat That Frog

by Brian Tracy

Read and Think Like a Future President!

In the Prologue of Bill Clinton’s 2004 autobiography “My Life”, he stated that a book he read on time management (indeed life management) greatly influenced the direction of his life:

“When I was a young man just out of law school and eager to get on with my life, on a whim I briefly put aside my reading preference for fiction and history and bought one of those how-to books: How to Get Control of Your Time and Your Life, by Alan Lakein. The book’s main point was the necessity of listing short-, medium-, and long-term goals, then categorizing them in order of their importance, with the A group being the most important, the B group next, and the C the last, then listing under each goal specific activities designed to achieve them. I Still have that paperback book, now almost thirty years old.”

Now, almost fifteen years after President Clinton’s “My Life”, Alan Lakein’s book is more than forty years old and even used copies are in limited supply. Yet the principles espoused in it – and so valued by Bill Clinton – are timeless and hold true today.

A current important book on time management is Eat That Frog! by Brian Tracy. It is available through the Resources section of our website. It would be an invaluable resource for anyone, but especially for the formerly incarcerated “returning citizens” struggling to build productive lives in the face of the overwhelming obstacles, they encounter upon their release from jail or prison.
